In 1938, Mr. Wendell Powell opened Wendell Powell Studio out of his beautiful home on Grove Avenue. Mr Powell had received his training from Bachrach Studio in New York, and wanted to create a studio in Richmond that was designed to provide only the finest quality.
Mr. Powell was awarded the distiction of Master Photographer from the Professional Photographers of America, and was also listed among 50 photographers in the world by Camera Craftsman of America. The tradition and vision of Wendell Powell Studio was, and is, to keep reaching for excellence.
